Last week, our President Peter Wynnyczuk did some work as the Executive Director on behalf of the Ontario Urban Forest Council at the University of Toronto.
The university was host to the Advanced Practitioner Emerald Ash Borer Workshop. There were presenters and participants from all over the country as well as many international guests. It was a great forum for discussion about the insect, vaccinations for ash trees, and ways to slow the impact the bug is having on our forests.
On June 16th, Peter attended the workshop as a participant and was able to listen to a few presentations about the Emerald Ash Borer. On June 18th, he gave a presentation about the Ontario Urban Forest Council’s efforts of raising awareness about Emerald Ash Borer to the 441 Municipalities, 36 Conservation Authorities and 170 School Boards across Ontario.
With the Ontario Urban Forest Council, Peter has been working hard to increase awareness about the insect so we are able to enjoy our ash trees for as long as possible.
Emerald Ash Borer affects ash trees all across Ontario and will soon eliminate ash trees from our canopy. For more information, visit our FAQ about the insect.
